100 Years – Focusing on customer’s need for convenience

As we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Peoples Bank, we look back at the bank’s history, its founders and its growth in our community. See the full list of stories here. Be sure to pick up a copy of our cookbook “Centennial Commemorative: Recipes & Remembrances” at your local branch office.

In 2002, Peoples Bank turned its attention to offering customers more convenient ways to do business with the bank by announcing “all day banking,” making it possible for a customer to receive credit for teller deposits up to 5pm on the day of deposit.

One of the most important customer service enhancements was the launch of Internet Banking in 2002. Internet banking made it possible for customers to access their funds, pay bills and make intra-account transfers from any computer connected to the internet. The bank also marketed to commercial accounts a Remote Deposit Capture (RDC) product which permitted businesses to make deposits from their office, and avoid a trip to the bank.

In 2005, as part of the bank’s internet banking efforts, customers could elect to receive account statements online. In the summer of 2008, Online Account Opening was introduced, which made it possible for people to apply and open consumer checking and savings accounts online, without having to appear in a bank office.
